Emergency Door Opening in London

Locked out is the most common call we take, and it is usually the fastest to solve. Keys left inside, door slammed on the latch, key lost on a night out, or a lock that has simply given up — most doors are open within minutes of the engineer arriving.

Our default is non-destructive: the lock is picked, bypassed or decoded and left working, so you keep your keys and your cylinder.

How the lock survives

Picking manipulates the pins the same way a key does. Bypass tools reach the latch or the mechanism without touching the cylinder at all. Decoding reads the lock and cuts a working key. All three leave the lock functional — which is why the first question the engineer asks is what type of lock you have, not what type of drill to bring.

When drilling is genuinely necessary

High-security cylinders with anti-pick pins, dead-jammed mechanisms, and locks already damaged by a previous attempt sometimes have to be drilled. When that is the case you will be told first, before anything is touched, and the new cylinder we fit will be at least as secure as the one removed.

Proof it is your property

Every reputable locksmith asks, and we do too. ID and something linking you to the address — a tenancy agreement, a bill, an agent's confirmation, a neighbour who knows you — is all it takes. It is the same check that protects your door when someone else is standing at it.

FAQs

Emergency Door Opening — your questions

Can you open my door without damaging the lock?

In the large majority of cases, yes. Non-destructive entry is our default and most locks on London doors can be picked, bypassed or decoded. If your lock cannot be opened that way we will tell you before we start, and explain what replacing it involves.

I have locked myself out but the key is in the other side. Can you still get in?

Usually yes. A key left in the inside of the cylinder blocks a normal pick, but there are bypass techniques for most door types. Mention it on the phone so the engineer brings the right kit.

What proof do you need that I live there?

Photo ID plus something that ties you to the address, such as a bill, bank letter, tenancy agreement or confirmation from your letting agent or landlord.
